Installation
In acoustics, textiles are usually used to dampen and absorb sound. In the sound installation “Feedbackleitfaden”, a fabric made of cotton threads stretched on a weaving frame is intended to do the exact opposite by becoming part of an acoustic resonance system. A contact loudspeaker and a contact microphone are woven into this fabric. The vibrations recorded by the microphone are modulated by a computer program and transmitted back to the threads via the loudspeaker, creating an audible feedback loop. The sounds are influenced by chance and the decisions of the algorithm and create a constantly changing impression between control and loss of control. The visibly vibrating fabric is both the central sound medium and the visual focus of the installation, which always reveals different auditory and visual details when viewed from different angles and distances.
